Fault Diagnosis of Diesel Based on Wavelet Transform and SVM

A fault diagnosis method based on wavelet transform and support vector machine is proposed for diesel engine. The continuous wavelet transform is used to analyze vibration signals of surface of diesel engines, and scale interval is chosen according to size of wavelet information entropy, then local energy on wavelet domain are extracted as the fault feature vector, which are eventually input into support vector machines in order to identify the fault of diesel engine. The experimental results show that the method can effectively extract the fault characteristics and obtain better diagnosis effect simultaneously.
